Stainless Steel Waste Pipe Replacement During Shutdown

The Brief

Foredowel Group was appointed to remove and replace an existing rooftop waste pipe system during a planned shutdown period, where timing and coordination were essential.

Due to the location of the pipework on the roof, the project required carefully managed crane operations alongside safe removal and installation procedures.

The Challenge

The replacement works were carried out during a shutdown period, meaning the project had to be completed safely and efficiently within a strict timeframe.

Working at height on the roof introduced additional planning and coordination requirements, with crane lifting operations carefully managed to safely remove the old waste pipe and position the new stainless steel system.

Our Solution

Foredowel coordinated the removal of the existing pipework and installation of a brand new stainless steel waste pipe system, ensuring all lifting and rooftop works were completed in a controlled and efficient manner.

The team worked within the shutdown schedule to minimise disruption and ensure the replacement system was installed and operational within the required timeframe.

Services Delivered

The Outcome

The waste pipe replacement was completed successfully during the shutdown period, with the new stainless steel system installed safely and efficiently despite the logistical challenges of rooftop access and crane lifting operations.

This project highlights Foredowel Group’s ability to deliver time-critical engineering works where planning, safety and coordination are essential.

Heat Exchanger Removal and Installation During Shutdown Period

The Brief

Foredowel Group was appointed to remove and refit a new heat exchange system during a planned shutdown period, where timing, planning and accuracy were critical.

The project required careful preparation due to extremely restricted access, with only a few millimetres of clearance available to safely remove the existing system and install the replacement unit.

The Challenge

The removal and installation process required a carefully considered lifting plan due to the limited working space available around the equipment.

With only a couple of millimetres of room to manoeuvre the system out and back into position, the project demanded precise planning, controlled lifting and close coordination throughout.

Our Solution

Foredowel developed and carried out a planned approach to safely remove the existing heat exchange system and refit the replacement unit within the shutdown window.

The team carefully managed the lifting operation, positioning and refit to ensure the system could be installed accurately despite the restricted access and tight tolerances.

Services Delivered

The Outcome

The heat exchange system was successfully removed and replaced during the shutdown period, with the Foredowel team completing the work safely, accurately and within the required timeframe.

This project demonstrates Foredowel Group’s ability to deliver complex mechanical installation work where planning, precision and time-critical execution are essential.

Stainless Steel Auto Wash System Installation

The Brief

Foredowel Group was appointed to support the fabrication and installation of a bespoke stainless steel auto wash system, designed to meet operational and durability requirements within an industrial environment.

The project required a combination of fabrication expertise, mechanical installation and electrical integration to ensure the system was fully operational and compliant upon completion.

Our Solution

Our fabrication team manufactured the stainless steel wash system to specification, ensuring a durable and practical solution suitable for ongoing operational use.

Once fabricated, the system was professionally fitted on site by the Foredowel team, with our mechanical services division overseeing installation and positioning.

Foredowel’s electrical engineers completed the electrical installation, testing and commissioning process, ensuring the system was fully integrated and signed off for operation.

Services Delivered

The Outcome

The completed stainless steel auto wash system was successfully fabricated, installed and commissioned — delivering a reliable, professionally integrated solution supported by multiple engineering disciplines within Foredowel Group.

First Parts Off the New ENSIS: What We Learned From Day One

At Laser Profiling Limited, investing in new technology is all about improving the service we provide to our customers. With the installation of our new AMADA ENSIS-3015 AJ 6kW fibre laser, we’re excited to continue evolving our laser cutting capabilities.

This latest addition replaces our previous 4kW AMADA F1 CO₂ laser, which served the business well for many years. Upgrading to fibre laser technology allows us to build on that strong foundation while increasing efficiency, flexibility, and performance.

While the machine is currently completing its commissioning phase, we’ve already had the opportunity to begin running initial test parts – and the early results are extremely encouraging.

Precision From the First Cut

One of the first things that stood out during our initial runs was the consistency and accuracy the ENSIS delivers. Fibre laser technology allows for extremely tight tolerances and clean edge finishes, meaning parts require less secondary processing and move more efficiently through production.

For our customers, this translates directly into high quality components and reliable repeatability across production runs.

Speed and Efficiency

Another immediate advantage we noticed was the cutting speed across a variety of materials. Compared with older CO₂ technology, fibre lasers offer significantly improved cutting performance, particularly on thinner materials.

The ENSIS system also intelligently adjusts the beam mode depending on the material thickness, allowing it to process both thin sheet and thicker plate efficiently on the same machine.

Material Versatility

During our first runs, we began testing a range of materials including:

The results showed excellent cut quality across all three, reinforcing the machine’s ability to handle diverse project requirements across multiple industries.

Preparing for Full Production

Although we’re still in the commissioning stage, these first test runs have already demonstrated the advantages this new technology will bring to our workshop.

Our team is currently working closely with engineers to ensure everything is fully calibrated and optimised before the machine moves into full production.

What This Means for Our Customers

Upgrading from our previous CO₂ laser to the ENSIS fibre system represents an important step forward for Laser Profiling Limited. Once fully operational, it will allow us to:

Watch This Space

We’re looking forward to sharing more updates as the commissioning process completes and the machine begins full production.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be showcasing the ENSIS in action, highlighting the parts it produces and the projects it will help bring to life.

Stay tuned – the best is yet to come.

Laser Profiling Achieves EN1090 Certification to Execution Class 2

Laser Profiling has announced a significant milestone in its growth and commitment to quality, having successfully obtained EN1090 certification to Execution Class 2 (EXC2). The accreditation marks an important step forward for the company, reinforcing its capability to deliver structurally compliant components for a wide range of construction and engineering applications.

Strengthening Quality and Compliance

EN1090 is a European standard that governs the fabrication and assembly of steel and aluminium structures. Achieving compliance to Execution Class 2 demonstrates that Laser Profiling meets stringent requirements for quality management, traceability, and welding controls—standards typically required for buildings, bridges, and other structural projects.

A Rigorous Certification Process

The certification process involved a comprehensive audit of the company’s internal systems, production procedures, and quality assurance measures. From material handling and documentation to fabrication processes and final inspection, Laser Profiling demonstrated its ability to meet the rigorous demands set out by the standard.

A spokesperson for Laser Profiling commented:
“Achieving EN1090 EXC2 certification is a proud moment for our business. It reflects the hard work and dedication of our team, and our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant products to our customers.”

Expanding Opportunities

With this certification in place, Laser Profiling is now positioned to support a broader range of structural steel projects across the UK and Europe. Clients can be assured that all relevant components are manufactured in line with recognised industry standards, helping to streamline project approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.

Looking Ahead

The achievement underscores Laser Profiling’s focus on continuous improvement and investment in both its people and processes. As demand grows for reliable and certified fabrication partners, the company is well-placed to strengthen its presence within the structural steel supply chain.

Looking ahead, Laser Profiling aims to build on this success by further enhancing its capabilities and maintaining the high standards required by EN1090, ensuring consistent quality and reliability for every project it undertakes.
